Google API Scope
TopicLift requests read-only access to Google Search Console using the Google OAuth scope https://www.googleapis.com/auth/webmasters.readonly.
This scope allows TopicLift to read Search Console property and performance data for properties that the authorizing Google account can access. TopicLift does not request permission to modify Search Console properties.
Data Imported From Google Search Console
When you connect Google Search Console, TopicLift may import Search Console data for connected properties, including:
- clicks;
- impressions;
- CTR;
- average position, where available;
- page-level performance;
- query-level data, where requested and available;
- country;
- device;
- date;
- search type, including Google Search, Discover and Google News where available;
- Search Console property identifiers and OAuth tokens needed to keep the integration connected.
Why TopicLift Imports Google API Data
TopicLift imports Google Search Console data to provide customer-facing editorial intelligence features, including Discover & SEO reports, article performance analysis, topic analysis, editorial briefings, opportunity detection and Search Console readiness checks.
TopicLift uses this data to help publishers understand how their own content performs across Google Search, Google Discover and Google News.
Where Google API Data Is Stored
Imported Google Search Console metrics are stored in TopicLift's SaaS database and associated with the customer's organization and connected site.
OAuth credentials and refresh tokens used to maintain the integration are stored in TopicLift's integration records using encrypted application storage where applicable. Access is limited to the systems and authorized personnel required to operate, secure and support the service.
How Google API Data Is Used Inside TopicLift
Inside the SaaS, Google Search Console data may be used to generate:
- Discover & SEO dashboards;
- Search, Discover and Google News performance tables;
- clicks, impressions, CTR and average position trends;
- article-level metrics and comparisons;
- content opportunities and relaunch suggestions;
- daily editorial briefings and operational readiness indicators.
AI-Assisted Use
TopicLift may use selected Google Search Console metrics together with editorial metadata and TopicLift analytics data to generate AI-assisted summaries, topic clusters, briefings and opportunity recommendations.
Where possible, TopicLift uses aggregated editorial and performance data rather than personal visitor data. AI outputs are informational and should be reviewed by the customer before editorial or business decisions are made.
How to Revoke Access
Customers may disconnect Google Search Console from TopicLift in Settings. After disconnection, TopicLift stops importing new data from that integration.
Customers may also revoke TopicLift's access directly from their Google Account permissions or Google security settings.
Data Deletion Requests
Customers may request deletion of imported Google Search Console data, integration records or account data by contacting [email protected].
Deletion may be subject to technical limitations, backup retention, legal obligations, billing records, fraud prevention and security requirements. After deletion, TopicLift may retain aggregated or anonymized data that no longer identifies the customer, users or website visitors.
Google API Services User Data Policy and Limited Use
TopicLift uses Google API data only to provide and improve user-facing features of the service.
TopicLift does not sell Google API data, does not use Google API data for advertising purposes, and does not use Google API data to build unrelated user profiles.
TopicLift does not transfer Google API data to third parties except as necessary to provide the service, comply with applicable law or with the user's authorization.
